Our work in the community

Fantastic Teeth Fan Club

Did you know that tooth decay is the most chronic disease amongst school-age children? The Fantastic Teeth Fan Club aims to change that by empowering children and parents to take control of their oral health. This incredible program, created by Masonic Children & Family Services of Texas builds a partnership between Lodges and elementary schools across Texas.

Each year we help pack and distribute hundreds of Fantastic Teeth Fan Club dental hygiene kits to elementary schools on our area. We are doing our bit to help improve the dental health of the kids in our community.

Steak Nights, Fish Fries and Fried Chicken

Our fund-raising meals have become something of a tradition at Lorenzo De Zavala Lodge. Each year we hold Steak Nights, Fish Fries and a very popular BBQ Fried Chicken Dinner. Our last Chicken Dinner was a huge success and we served over 300 meals to our friends, members of the community and our first-responders.

These events support our scholarship fund, our charity initiatives in the area, and also help us maintain our lodge building.

Blood drives

Community blood drives are held at many of the Lodges in our district each year as a part of the Grand Lodge of Texas Gift of Life Program. This program benefits the two fraternal hospitals, Scottish Rite for Children, and Shriners Children’s Texas in Galveston, as well as community hospitals throughout the state.

Blood drives in our district are publicised in the Lorenzo De Zavala Newsletter so why not sign-up, or follow us on Facebook for details.

Scholarships

Each year the Lodge donates scholarships to local high school students at Northside High School and other area schools, along with Teacher Honorariums, Lamar Awards, and certificates.

These donations, many of which are fund-matched by the Texas Masonic Charities Foundation, are another way we are able to reach out and contribute to the local community.
